TAYLORSVILLE — Two men who police say carjacked a student in the parking lot of the University of Phoenix were arrested in West Jordan late Tuesday.
Just after 10 p.m., a man was getting into his car at the University of Phoenix, 4393 S. Riverboat Road (900 West), when two men approached him and pointed a gun at him, said Taylorsville police detective Shannon Bennett.
"They ordered him to get on the ground," he said.
The men took the victim's vehicle, wallet and cell phone, and fled.
About an hour later, police were able to locate the vehicle at an apartment complex near 5500 West and 9000 South. The car was parked and the men were located a short distance away and arrested.
A weapon, which turned out to be an Airsoft gun, was also recovered.
Cameron Short, 19, and Michael Robinson, 20, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery.
In December, Short was convicted on DUI and driving on a revoked license in exchange for charges of joyriding and reckless driving being dismissed, according to Utah State Court records.
